FTL (Full-Truckload)
FTL (full-truckload) shipping dedicates an entire trailer to a single shipper, used for large loads or when speed and minimal handling matter.
Full-truckload (FTL) shipping reserves a complete trailer for one shipper’s freight. It is the right choice when a shipment fills a trailer (roughly 15,000+ pounds or 10+ pallets), when the freight is fragile or high-value, or when a shipper wants the fastest, most direct transit.
Unlike LTL, an FTL load travels directly from origin to destination without passing through terminals, so there is far less handling, no reclassification risk, and faster, more predictable delivery. Pricing is quoted per mile or per lane rather than by freight class.
FTL is common for manufacturing, distribution, and any move where consolidating with other shippers would add cost, delay, or damage risk.
