Frequently asked questions
How are shipments counted?
Each booked shipment through the API counts once, regardless of mode (parcel, LTL, truckload). Quotes, label voids, and rate-shopping calls are free.
Do I need a platform UI to use FreightCake?
No. FreightCake is API-first. The platform UI is included with every plan, but you can build entirely on the API and skip it.
Is the API documented?
Yes — full reference with examples, sandbox keys, and webhook payloads. Most integrations ship in a day.
Do you charge per carrier connection?
Never. All live carrier integrations are included on every tier — you pay per shipment, not per carrier.
When does metered billing go live?
Metered billing is in development. Until it ships, all customers run on beta pricing — usage is tracked but not billed. We give 30 days notice before any charges.
How do volume discounts work?
Pay-as-you-go customers automatically get tiered per-shipment pricing once they cross 1,000 shipments / month. Enterprise customers get a flat negotiated rate.
